Welcome to Salmon Strong Mutual Aid and Emergency Preparedness, a grassroots movement dedicated to fostering a stronger, more self-reliant community here in Salmon, Idaho. In today’s uncertain times, communities like ours face a growing need to take preparedness and support into our own hands. Whether it’s natural disasters, economic uncertainty, or unreliable leadership, we believe that the best way forward is through mutual aid—neighbors helping neighbors.

Why Salmon Needs Mutual Aid

Salmon is a small, tight-knit community. But like many rural areas, we face unique challenges:

• Limited resources: From medical supplies to food, it can take longer for help to reach us during emergencies.

• Unpredictable leadership: With political uncertainty, relying solely on institutions is no longer an option.

• Environmental risks: Wildfires, harsh winters, and other local challenges demand better preparation and cooperation.

By working together, we can ensure that no one is left behind in times of need. Salmon Strong is more than a group—it’s a movement to create a resilient, self-sufficient Salmon.

Our Goals

Here’s how we’re planning to help:

1. Emergency Preparedness: Teaching one another vital skills such as first aid, fire safety, emergency communication, and food preservation to become more self-sufficient. We aim to meet in person, classes with each other, and shared knowledge sessions to ensure everyone is ready for emergencies, big or small. 

2. Resource Sharing: Establishing a network where community members can trade skills, tools, and supplies to reduce reliance on outside institutions.

3. Community Support: Organizing mutual aid networks for everything from food and local transportation to home repairs.

4. Education and Advocacy: Teaching sustainability, self-reliance, and environmental stewardship to build a stronger Salmon for generations to come.
