Safety Net for the Group
Salmon Strong is just getting started, and we've taken an important first step by opening a GoFundMe to help grow our emergency fund. Right now, I'm the only member, but this is just the beginning. The GoFundMe will allow us to build a community safety net, so we can respond to emergencies effectively. Any contribution, big or small, will help make this vision a reality. The idea is simple—when an emergency happens, we use these funds to help each other, with decisions made through a group vote.
Building a strong, trustworthy group is our top priority. We're planning to find and welcome new members carefully, prioritizing people who share our values and who we can rely on in times of need. We'll have two types of members: Green and Yellow. Green members will take on more responsibilities, like helping manage resources or guiding our growth on social media, while Yellow members will participate in other, lighter ways. It's all about finding a balance so everyone can contribute based on their comfort and ability.
Once we gather enough trusted folks, our next big step will be getting together in person to decide our next moves. From building our team to expanding our reach, every decision will be made collectively to make sure we're always putting the needs of the community first. If you're interested in joining or want to know more, reach out—together, we can build something that truly helps our neighbors in times of crisis.
